Our Venues

The Ulumbarra Theatre is the latest addition to the suite of premium events and performing arts venues managed by Capital Venues and Events.

From the majestic Capital Theatre, Bendigo Bank Theatre, Banquet Room, Dudley House and Engine Room in the View Street Arts Precinct, to the opulent Bendigo Town Hall and soon to be completed Ulumbarra Theatre, Capital Venues and Events provide functions, events and conventions solutions across the entire range of venues.

Each venue has its own distinctive style, with capacities ranging from 20 up to 950 attendees, yet all venues are equipped with state-of-the-art production equipment, premium catering capability and professional technical and event support from Capital Venues and Events staff.

We are extremely proud to present the latest addition to our collection of outstanding venues, scheduled to open in 2015. An exceptional example of integrating history with contemporary life this state-of-the-art theatre rises from within the walls of the 150 year old Sandhurst Gaol.

The Capital

The Capital

The Capital, Bendigo’s Performing Arts Centre is located on historic View Street. Originally built as the Sandhurst Masonic Hall in 1873, the complex was re-opened as a performing arts complex in 1991.

The Engine Room

The Engine Room

Located on View Street adjacent to the main building of The Capital, the historic old fire station is now known as The Engine Room. The venue offers two flexible spaces ideal for community arts usage, intimate performances or displays.On the ground floor, a black box performance space with full sound and lighting facilities, upstairs an attractive ballet studio with timber floor, barres and mirrors.This historic, quirky venue seats 90 people in a retractable seating bank or can be used as a blank canvass to create whatever your event requires.

Dudley House

Dudley House

Next door to The Engine Room (the old fire station) on View Street is Dudley House, another of Bendigo’s great historic buildings that originally housed the District Surveyor’s Office.Downstairs is a wonderful professional hanging system facilitating regular exhibitions from local visual artists.
